Joyabaj -- Used Morral #2A

Crocheted cotton man's bag with date and place
This old morral from Joyabaj (Department of Quiche) measures 12 x 12 inches. The bag was hand-crocheted of all cotton. The strap was hand-woven on a narrow belt loom, and is also cotton.  The lettering appears in two rows continuously around the bag. Both sides are pictured. As best as I can discern, the text reads as follows:

Line 1: NI GUATEMALA 20 dE MAYO dE 1991
Line 2:  J-YABAJ DEPARTAMENTO LQUICHE

Condition: Very Good, lightly used but presenting no significant flaws. This bag has been used and shows some wear and soil, but there is no significant damage and no holes.
